## Measuring Instructions for Floors or Walls

### For Flats or Floors (Total Square Feet)

1. Measure Length and Height: To calculate the square footage of the area to be covered with flats, measure the length and height of each wall or surface area where the flats will be applied.
2. Calculate Square Footage: Multiply the length by the height to get the square footage for each area.
3. Total Square Footage: Add up the square footage of all areas to get the total square footage needed for flats.

### For Corners (Total Linear Feet)

1. Measure the Height of Each Corner: Since corners will wrap around the edge, you only need to measure the height of each corner that will be covered.
2. Total Linear Feet: Add together the heights of all corners to get the total linear feet required for corner pieces.

### For Sill Caps (Total Linear Feet)

1. Measure the Length of Each Sill: Measure the length of the edge where the sill cap will be placed. This could be atop a window, door, or wall.
2. Include Overhang: Decide on the amount of overhang you desire on each side of the sill cap (if any), and add this to the total length of each sill measurement.
3. Total Linear Feet: Sum up the lengths of all sill caps needed to get the total linear feet.

## Definitions

### Flats

These are the flat, main surfaces of the stone that cover the majority of the area on walls or structures. They are typically used to calculate the total coverage area in square feet since they cover large, flat surfaces.

### Corners

These are the pieces of stone that wrap around the corners of a structure or wall, giving a seamless appearance of a full stone. The measurement for corners is often in linear feet because you’re essentially measuring the length of the corner edges that need to be covered.

### Sill Caps

Sill caps are the stones that sit atop windowsills, ledges, or caps of walls. They often require precise linear measurements because they are custom-fitted to protect and accentuate the horizontal surfaces they cover.
